Muladhara
Created in the after of a long devotion, this piece honors a love that reshaped the ground beneath me. My dog Hara lived with IVDD paralysis, and in loving him, I stepped into a devotion I never planned but now carry as part of who I am.
Year: 2025
Medium: Archival pigment print
Purpose Statement:
For years, I cared for him, carried him, and loved him through every challenge. It became one of the most sacred chapters of my life, a quiet unraveling. A love story written in sleepless nights and trembling grace. Exhausting. Heartbreaking. Beautiful. All at once.
His name comes from Muladhara, the root chakra. Our center of safety, grounding, and life force. That is who he was for me. In caring for him, I found my own footing. I learned how to stay rooted in love, even when the ground beneath me shifted.
This work holds what remains after loss transforms. The way love moves inward, becomes foundation, becomes breath. He is no longer here in body, but he lives in the way I stand: soft, strong, and still grounded in the love that shaped me.
